Malaysian study: Chinese Sinovac vaccine is highly effective against Covid-19

Today, Friday, the Malaysian government conducted a study on the effectiveness of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine against the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to the study, according to the Malaysian newspaper (The Star), the Sinovac anti-coronavirus vaccine is highly effective against serious diseases, although competitors Pfizer and AstraZeneca have shown better protection rates.

The study found that 0.011% of about 7.2 million recipients of the Sinovac vaccine required treatment in intensive care units for Covid infection, Malaysian health officials said.

She added that 0.002% of about 6.5 million recipients of the Pfizer vaccine needed intensive care units, while 0.001% of the 744,958 recipients of the AstraZeneca vaccine needed similar treatment.

The latest data is a boost for the Chinese company whose coronavirus vaccine is under increasing scrutiny over its effectiveness after reports of infections among health care workers who were fully vaccinated with Sinovac in Indonesia and Thailand.
