Lukaku after Portugal's Euro 2020 elimination: Belgium's character and resilience helped us win

The Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku, player of the Italian club Inter Milan, expressed his happiness after eliminating Portugal from the round of 16 with a goal for nothing, and completing the Euro 2020 campaign, stressing that the character of the Belgian team and flexibility in playing was the reason for winning the match.

Belgium qualified for the quarter-finals of the Euro, after defeating Portugal 1-0, in the match that brought the two teams together at the "La Cartuja" stadium, in the Spanish city of Seville, as part of the 16th round of the European Nations Championship "Euro 2020".

With this result, Belgium will meet in the quarter-finals with Italy next Friday, after the Azzurri beat Austria 2-1 on Saturday night.

Thorgan Hazard scored Belgium's goal in the 42nd minute with a missile shot from outside the penalty area, to score his second goal in the tournament.

Although Belgium dominated the midfield for most of the first half, the Portuguese team was dangerous.

Portugal's Diego Jota missed the most dangerous chances of the first half in the sixth minute with a shot near the left post, and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved Cristiano Ronaldo's shot steadily from a free kick in the 25th minute.

Belgium qualified for the final price round after leading the second group standings with 9 points, after winning all three of its matches.

While Portugal qualified for the same round, after climbing into the top 4 thirds, it finished third in the fiery Group F with 4 points, behind France and Germany.
