The Somali army announces the elimination of dozens of terrorists, including prominent leaders


The Somali army announced today, Sunday, the elimination of dozens of militants of the extremist "Al-Shabab" movement, including prominent leaders, during a security operation.


Official Somali media reported that government forces were able to liquidate dozens of militants of the extremist "Al-Shabab" movement, including prominent leaders, during a security operation in the central Shabelle governorate.


The official "Voice of the Somali National Army" radio reported today, Sunday, that the extremist group suffered heavy losses during the operation, noting that more than 50 militants were eliminated and weapons and combat equipment were confiscated, in addition to the liberation of a number of villages and regions.


Meanwhile, the official Somali News Agency, "Sona", confirmed the liquidation of 37 extremists, the injury of 20 more, and the capture of two in the Jelka Harari region of the governorate.


The agency indicated that among the leaders of the "youth" who were killed during the operation was a leader called Muallem Youssef, who was responsible for the militias that were holed up in the area.
