The Palestinian President calls for the start of a political path under the auspices of the Quartet to end the occupation


Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed the importance of an immediate start of a political path sponsored by the International Quartet in accordance with international legitimacy, which ends the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of international legitimacy decisions.


The Palestinian News Agency "Wafa" reported that this came during Abbas's reception today, Wednesday, with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who briefed him on the latest developments in the situation and the importance of working to stop the attacks of settlers supported by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the need to work to stabilize the calm. In the entire Palestinian territories, and to support efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip.


President Abbas appreciated the British support in the field of institution building and the advancement of the Palestinian economy, stressing the need for Britain to play a role in advancing peace efforts in accordance with international legitimacy.


For his part, the British Foreign Secretary affirmed his country's position in support of the two-state solution and Britain's willingness to support peace efforts between the Palestinians and Israelis, and to continue working to support the Palestinian people and build their institutions and economy.
