Tourism Promotion Authority meeting to discuss plans for promoting tourism in Egypt



A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion was held today, headed by Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.


The Minister began the meeting by congratulating the members of the Board of Directors on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, which was established in March 1981.


During the meeting, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani briefed the members of the Council about the final preparations for the procession for the transfer of royal mummies, which the world will witness on Saturday, April 3, from the Egyptian Museum, to the place of its permanent display in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, pointing to the ministry's launch of electronic promotional campaigns in 12 Arab markets And European, Asian and American.


The minister also informed the Council that this year, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development, the Ministry opened three points on the path of the Holy Family after their development, as the project to develop the area surrounding the Church of the Virgin Mary in Sakha in Kafr El Sheikh governorate, the project to develop the Tal Basta site in the Sharkia governorate, and the area development project About the Church of Our Lady and the martyr Abanoub in Samannoud, Gharbia Governorate.


He explained that in these sites, the efficiency of the roads leading to them has been raised, indicative panels and a set of tourist and archaeological advertising signs that list the contents of the site and its history, in addition to the installation of pergolas and umbrellas and the renewal of the toilets.


For his part, Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, reviewed the promotional plan that was prepared to stimulate tourism in the Arab markets that export tourism to Egypt.


The Board of Directors also reviewed the promotional video for this campaign, and the various promotional materials such as static and graphic advertisements that will be used in the streets, outdoor public places, television channels and various social media platforms to promote Egypt in the Arab countries.


He also talked about the authority’s plan to host foreign, Arab and Egyptian bloggers, noting that the photos and videos that these bloggers published during their visit to the Egyptian tourist and archaeological sites had achieved a great and positive interaction.


He added that the "Discover Egypt" campaign is currently being implemented during the period from March 20 until the first week of next April to enhance the tourism and archaeological awareness among citizens and promote domestic tourism.
