Yediot Aharonot: Officials accuse Iran of blowing up a ship owned by Israel

Israeli officials accused Iran of Saturday of being behind the explosion of an Israeli-owned ship flying the Bahamas flag two days ago, the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot reported.

The newspaper stated on its website that although the accident occurred last Thursday, it was announced 24 hours later.

No one was injured in the blast and it was not immediately clear what caused the explosion.

On Friday, news agencies reported that the ship, which was exposed to an explosion in the Gulf of Oman, is an Israeli cargo ship flying the Bahamas flag, known as "Helios Ray," but it is owned by a company in Israel.

According to the British Maritime Trade Authority, the explosion forced the ship to go to the nearest port, explaining that its crew were safe and not injured.
